Who is Forge & Feller?
Forge & Feller is a small, owner-operated shop focused on building reliable, high-performance chainsaws through careful assembly, quality parts selection, and thorough testing. Our goal is simple: deliver dependable saws that offer exceptional value without cutting corners, backed by honest support and craftsmanship rooted in integrity.
Why did we start Forge & Feller?
Forge & Feller was born out of hands-on experience using saws in real cleanup and outdoor work, where reliability matters more than branding. Seeing the need for affordable, serviceable, and powerful saws inspired us to build something better than cheap clones — without the cost barrier of OEM pricing.
-
Replica or hybrid saws are built using new aftermarket platforms that are compatible with OEM designs, then selectively upgraded with OEM-quality or premium components where longevity, reliability, and performance matter most. This approach allows us to deliver strong performance and durability at a far better value than either budget clones or full OEM builds.
-
Many “clone” saws sold online are:
Assembled overseas with zero quality control
Shipped without proper inspection or setup
Built with inconsistent tolerances
Never test-run, tuned, or heat-cycled
Essentially disposable if something fails
Forge & Feller does the exact opposite.
What We Do That Others Don’t
Every Forge & Feller saw is:
✅ Fully disassembled and inspected
Critical fasteners, bearings, seals, and tolerances are checked before assembly.✅ Upgraded where it matters
We replace known weak points with higher-quality components, including seals, bearings, carburetors, fasteners, and select OEM parts when appropriate.✅ Professionally assembled & torqued
Engines are assembled to proper specifications — not rushed on an assembly line.✅ Heat-cycled and tested(optional but recommended)
Each saw is run, brought up to operating temperature, cooled, and re-checked to ensure proper break-in and reliability.✅ Carburetor tuned & oiler verified
The saw is tuned for safe operation and proper lubrication — not lean-set for shipping.✅ Backed by support
You’re buying from a real person who builds, runs, and stands behind the saw — not a warehouse seller. -
OEM-level performance at a fraction of the cost
Built for real work — not just a price tag
Ideal for firewood cutters, landowners, farmers, and professionals who want power without inflated brand pricing
Sustainable choice — keeping proven designs working and out of landfills
The Bottom Line
A cheap clone is something you hope works.
A Forge & Feller saw is something that was built to work.We don’t sell boxes — we sell tools you can trust.

-
Yes. Every saw is fully assembled, heat-cycled, tuned, and mechanically checked before shipment to ensure proper operation and oiling.

What fuel should I use?
We strongly recommend:
Non-ethanol gasoline
40:1 fuel-to-oil ratio
High-quality full synthetic 2-cycle oil (Red Armor preferred)
Proper fuel is critical to carburetor health, seals, and long-term reliability.
Why non-ethanol fuel?
Ethanol attracts moisture and degrades fuel system components over time. Non-ethanol fuel dramatically reduces starting issues, carburetor problems, and internal corrosion — especially on saws that aren’t run daily.
How should I break in my saw?
We recommend short, varied throttle operation during the first few tanks of fuel. Avoid extended wide-open cuts and let the saw heat cycle naturally. This allows components to seat properly for long-term performance.
How important is chain sharpness?
Extremely important. A dull chain will:
Cut slower
Overheat the saw
Increase wear on the clutch and engine
Many performance complaints are actually chain-related, not engine-related.
How often should I sharpen my chain?
Touch-up sharpening should be done frequently — even after a single tank in dirty wood. Sharp chains reduce operator fatigue and dramatically extend saw life.
-
Are replacement parts easy to find?
Yes. One of the advantages of hybrid saws is wide parts availability. Most wear components are affordable and readily available through common suppliers.
Can I work on the saw myself?
Absolutely. These saws are serviceable by informed owners or any competent small-engine technician.
Do you offer rebuilds or future service?
Yes. Forge & Feller supports long-term ownership and offers service, upgrades, and rebuild options as availability allows.
-
Do your saws include a warranty?
Yes. Base builds include a 6-month limited warranty. Optional upgrade packages may include extended coverage for consumer or commercial use, depending on configuration.
What voids the warranty?
Warranty may be voided by:
Improper fuel or oil mix
Ethanol fuel use
Unauthorized modifications
Abuse or neglect
How long does it take to build and ship my saw?
Most builds ship within the stated build window listed at checkout. Build times may vary based on part availability and customization level.
Do you accept returns?
Due to the nature of custom-built equipment, returns are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us before attempting any return.
-
Are these saws beginner-friendly?
These are powerful tools intended for responsible adult users. While beginners can operate them safely with proper training, chainsaws demand respect, maintenance, and protective equipment.
What safety gear do you recommend?
At minimum:
Chainsaw chaps
Eye & hearing protection
Gloves
Proper footwear
